WHY LOCALIZATION?

Globalization encourages the uncontrolled use of non-renewable fossil fuels which produce greenhouse gas emission that contribute to global climate change. Transitioning to the use of renewable energy and refocusing economic activities to the local and regional level will allow communities to avert some of the challenges that result from the decline of cheap and abundant fossil fuels.

We have an opportunity to reshape our communities based on regional capital/resources. Economic localization groups are being formed across the nation to promote community self-reliance. CELL was created 1.5 years ago to educate the public about the pressure of Peak Oil and Climate Change and to organize the community to create a safety net.
